Investigation of the Effect of Obstacle Placed in the Middle of Human Vocal Tract on the Resultant Sound Pressure

FEM based simulation is carried out to investigate the effect of obstacle in human vocal tract on the sound pressure in the tract. The effect of soil is investigated on the sound pressure developed in the human vocal tract. The vocal tract model designed is adapted from Fant model which comprises of four sections. Now a day’s environment is much polluted and duct content in the surrounding is very high, so a person may swallow soil due to large amount of dust around. The obstacle used is soil and positioned in the mouth tube. As the speech signal requires a bandwidth near about 4 kHz, the investigation carried out to obtained sound pressure in the human vocal tract from 100-5000 Hz sound signals with obstacle in the middle of it.
